Gaia DC Ceiling Fan – 48″
Inspired by Nature, Designed with Purpose
After thorough consideration and extensive research, we are excited to introduce the Gaia, a new addition to our EarthFirst range. This fan is crafted to minimise environmental impact during manufacturing while maintaining high standards of quality, aesthetics, and functionality.
Featuring a natural finish and earthy tones, the Gaia ceiling fan captures the essence of Mother Nature. Its design emphasises environmental responsibility, and the name “Gaia” symbolises its thoughtful creation and commitment to eco-friendly products.
Sustainability Starts by Rethinking our Materials
Traditional ceiling fans often rely on ABS plastics and steel, materials that require carbon-intensive manufacturing processes like electroplating and powder coating.
With the Gaia, Fanco set out to change that — to prove a ceiling fan could be both durable and environmentally responsible. Every component was reconsidered, resulting in a design that replaces conventional materials with bio-based plastic motor housing and FSC®-certified solid timber blades.
The result is the first DC ceiling fan of its kind: engineered for performance, crafted for sustainability, and designed to transform your environment.
A First for Australian Fans: FSC® Certified Timber Blades
As Australia’s first ceiling fan with FSC® Certified solid timber blades, the Gaia ensures every piece of timber comes from responsibly managed forests.
As part of Fanco’s EarthFirst range, this material choice reflects our broader commitment to designing products that transform homes without compromising the planet.
Water-Based Coatings That Extend Blade Life and Lower Emissions
The FSC® Certified blades use a transparent, water-based, non-toxic paint that protects them from humidity, ensuring longevity and promoting sustainability without compromising quality or aesthetic appeal.
As well as providing protection from humidity, the water-based paint allows the blades to be easily recycled at the end of their life. By using only water-based coatings, processes like electroplating and powder coating are eliminated, reducing the overall carbon footprint of the fan.
Bio-Based Organic Plastics
From Petroleum to Plants:
The motor housing utilises bio-based plastic, where 25% of its content is organically sourced, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
This advancement, certified by TUV tests (ASTM D6866-22 Method B), showcases a commitment to minimising environmental impact.
The biobased plastic does not have any coating or painting, and its colour refers to its organic components, eliminating unnecessary processes.
Easy to use remote design.
Turn the fan on/off, change the speed and switch the fan from summer to winter mode all from the convenience of a remote control. Also included is a 1, 4 or 8 hour timer feature, full control options for the light, and a ‘natural wind’ mode, meant to mimic the dynamic and soothing air motion of natural breeze.
‘No beep’ remote.
The Gaia also features a ‘no beep remote’, which does not make audible noise when in use. This allows the fan to be used in noise sensitive environments where quietness is a requirement without fear of disturbing the peace.
Reversible for year round use.
The F/R button on the remote allows you to effortlessly switch between summer and winter mode. In winter the fan moves in the opposite direction – drawing air towards the ceiling helping circulate heat back down and keep your space warmer.
